They say it works up to 18 ga. in steel and 16 ga in aluminum so yes you were a bit over the tools limits. It works fine on the steel I have which I'm going to assume is 18 ga. A Townwagon's sheetmetal is a bit thinner than a PW as I have worked on both. But a TW is still way thicker than the tissue paper they use nowadays. Jill, the "bumpy" fender is looking much better and I'm anxious to make a patch for the other fender.
