hey guys, I just got to check the last forum, and still had a question about transmissions. I have a 4 speed (original) in my '85 ram 1-ton, 2wd and wondered if gas prices being like they are if a 5 speed would be a good idea.
what are your thoughts on this, I'm not dead sure but, I believe dodge went to a five speed option in '87 or so, but I don't know when they started using the hydraulic clutch.(more work to install as mine in mechanically linked!) are the five speed trannys as reliable? I have heard that they aren't as strong as the 4 speed's and are prone to problems but I want the forums opinion, not just hearsay! thanks guys! Jason
