I crawled under my truck and measured the width of the yoke and it measures 2.900. So according to your dim's of the 853 it should fit. Do you have an 853 that you can measure to see what the actual dimension is? I'm wondering if it is actually larger from cap to cap than what it is supposed to be. Either that or I didn't have the caps pushed in far enough when I installed it. It was a long time ago. I doubt it though. By the way I kept the original u-joint that was installed in the yoke. It measures 2.900 from cap to cap. It also has grinding marks on the surface of the caps like they were ground to fit. Weird.

P.s. I could not find a web site with a list of u-joints and sizes. Also Napa does not list the 853 anymore. Has it been discontinued?
