You can’t assume that a unit that was not involved in the conversion is the problem. However, you can assume that a unit could have broken something from the increased torque produced by the V8. Since the noise was not there before the conversion, I would look at the transmission as the probable cause. I assume rubber insulators are under the engine mounts, so that gear whine noise would not be an issue there. Did you rebuild the transmission as part of the conversion? Also, do you have enough clearance between the transmission cover and transmission so gear whine noise is not transferred to the cab from the transmission – a common mistake? Cut a flat side from a foam ice chest and hole for the shift tower, lay it on the transmission cover and bolt on the floor cover to get an impression. You might need to raise the cab. Is the noise produced during acceleration or during cruising? You should expect some increase in gear whine from increase power on acceleration. Now that you do have more power, it would be a wise move to rebuild a TC. It’s not hard to do as long as you have a manual and take your time.
