You can't see bearing condition. Those old bearings can easily have pitted or otherwise damaged races and/or rollers.
You really need to disassemble and visually inspect, then properly reassemble using shims. And, unless these bearings look just really perfect, given all the time and effort it takes to do this, you would want to use new bearings.
