I like them a lot, but as noted in the posts below, they are not install and forget. Oil bath is not an option for me, too hard to keep the proper level without dumping oil everywhere. I don't like paper, silt and sand can find it's way through it in seconds and paper clogs in minutes. The K&N and other similar types that are found on just about every dirt bike, require maintenance to work properly. I haven't seen the SAE paper, but my experience is in the real world, not a laboratory. Look at the bikes, buggies and trucks racing in Desert Racing series and you'll find predominately, K&N type filters being used. The only other filter that I liked was the Tri Phase tractor filter, a 3 chamber system that worked well...except for the paper element.
