Well, on the PW's the brake light switch is in line right after the master. A rotted/swollen closed flex hose is downstream and would hold pressure past that hose, toward the wheels.
Can't speak for the switch location on M37's though.

First thought would be a crudded up switch, although you say it's new. When the light sticks on, quickly pull the wires off. If the brake light goes out, the switch is bad, or residual pressure is holding it on. Would suspect the bleed hole in the master, or no master free play on that scenario. Either will hold system pressure for a while.

Bleeding these things is a bit*h, as the master is the lowest point in the system. I use a vacuum pump on the wheel cylinders. A donor vehicle also works well.
Hose from the bleeder nipple to the intake manifold on the donor or the truck engine.
You'll have a good stink from the fluid getting burned in that engine!! It's amazing the amount of fluid you will pass through, and that fluid velocity will carry the trapped air out. Be sure to have an assistant refilling the master cyl on the truck as you do it. It'll empty in no time!
