I can't diagnose engine noises on the net, it sounds like you probably are right. It could also be a wrist pin, that is a ligther knock vs. a deeper rod or main knock. But, if it comes to rebuilding the engine do it yourself. If you have all of the machine work done the assembly is pretty by-the-numbers. You usually pay quite a bit of money for someone else to do it and unless you really know the guy you never know if it was done right. If you live near Chicago I'll be happy to help. Andy Tierney
