years, not 2 months.
That's not the problem.

You have one of three problems.

1) A bad fuel pump
2) Dirt somewhere in the line or the pump itself
3) A small leak in the line between the pump and the
tank which allows it to suck air instead of gas
4) A bad camshaft. If the lobe that drives the fuel pump
is shot it won't work either.

That's four isn't it. Well, the last one ain't so common.

First thing to check is the fuel filter. Take it off and blow through it.
Plugged? Replace it.
Next, disconnect the line from the pump to the carb and connect
a rubber fuel line to it and run that into a gas can and crank.
Any gas? If yes, the problem is between there and the carb.
If not, unhook the line on the other side of the pump. Any gas?
If not, can you blow into it? Do you hear gurgling in the tank?
If you can't blow into it, it is plugged.

If it gurgles, reconnect everything and try again. It may work for
a while and then quit again. That would be because there is rust
floating around in the tank.

You could also connect a rubber line to the tank side of the pump and
put the other end into a gas can and crank. You could put another hose
on the other end of the pump and point that into the gas can and see
if the the pump works.

It ain't rocket science.
I guess then it has to be brain surgery.
