{{if I let my w500 sit for a long period of time(over a month), it smokes when I start it up. And I mean SMOKES! After a mile or so it cleans up and runs very clean and runs like a dream.If I drive it often, it smokes for a second and runs clean...any ideas. }}

This is the classic symptom of oil seeping past the valve stems. The shaft of the valve is a little worn and so is the hole it goes through. A good machine shop can repair it but the head needs to come off.

It's called "Knurling" on the heads. The big block Mopars didn't use valve guides like Brand X engine. The knurling looks a bit like the checking on a rachet handle that you grip. It holds the valves straight and tightens them up. I've got 25K on ther last engine I had this done too and no troubles yet.

You do have a 361 and not a 360 don't you? 360 is small block and 361 is big block.
