Terry,

You've found the place if you are interested in the Dodge Power Wagon.

The WM300 is the "split hood / teardrop head lights look" that you are looking for (at least that's the model designator for the years you say you're interested in). Those trucks look like the one at the top of this forum and are a pretty direct development of the military half-ton and three-quarter-ton Dodge trucks used in World War II.

The body style you are looking for was produced by Dodge from 1946-1968 for the domestic market with WDX being the designation for the earliest trucks and WM300 being the designation for the latest (with several different designators thorugh the production run -- look at the production figures on this site to see them). The WDX-WM300 Powewr Wagons all look basically like the truck at the top of this forum.

Here's probably where you're running into trouble:
Dodge also called a series of "conventional" trucks Power Wagons starting in the late '50s (be careful calling them "regular old pickups" here, though, because some of these guys also have and love those trucks :-) The W300s are the conventional style (as were the W100s, W200s, etc.). Note that it is W-300, not W-M-300 or W-300-M -- the M is crucial.
Look at the pictures on this site (which is, by the way, one of the best sites on the Internet on ANY subject) to see the "conventional" and "flatfender" Power Wagons, often side by side. BTW, the crewcab flatfender you'll see there is really rare, so you just have to covet it like (most of) the rest of us.

Okay, to further confuse you, many people refer to the military trucks Dodge produced during World War II and the M37 truck they produced in the '50s and '60s as "Power Wagons" -- while they are not really "Power Wagons" in the trademarked sense, they have a lot of similarities. You might be interested in looking at them, as well (particularly the M37 if you are looking to repower with a Hemi as there is more room under the hood). Go to www.bigelectric.com and scroll to the bottom to see M37s.

Good luck in your search.

Hope this helps,
Land
