There is an article in last months Peterson 4 Wheel & off road that has a tune up article on a LA 318. It goes through carb jetting, elec. ignition swap and tuning the advance curve of the distributor (which reaaly helps). I have the poly 318 in a 5000lb Town Wagon PW. I've jetted the Carter AFB installed Jacobs Spark plug wires and coil (highly recomended) Platinum plugs, and am planning the dist. recurve and elec. ignition. I now get 12mpg in the CO mountains (up from 10) and with those other mods, I'm hoping for 14mpg! Edelbrock's web site has info on jetting there 4bbls. on line.
Estimate 260hp and 345lbs.ft. eventually with spitfire headers and Weiand manif. hope this helps, Gary
