John:

The radiator is forward about 2 inches on the WM300 with 251 cu. in engine from the radiator position on the PW with the 230 cu. in engine. A Braden MU-2 winch from a 230 truck will not bolt into a 251 trucks without a few changes. You need the longer frame extensions for a truck with a 251 cu., in engine. Dennis Sherman makes new repros of these. You also need a different rear cross piece for the winch. The rear cross piece for a 251 truck winch is a vertical metal strap that the winch bolts to. This strap has triangular "feet" at each end that bolt to the frame rails. The rear cross piece for a MU-2 from a 230 truck is a piece of angle iron with a slight hump near the center to clear the engine hand crank. You can swap them out on a winch, but neither bolts up to a truck originally fitted with the other.

Just a guess, but perhaps the MU2-2 on the 251 winch means it has a vertical strap rear cross piece and was mounted on a truck with a 251 engine. Good luck!

Fred
