I cleaned mine up by sandblasting, then silver-soldered the pieces togrther. You can fill all the pits and then polish it up to have cromed for a more finished look, but so-far mine looks pretty good in silver. You can tell the diference if you put a cromed on next to it, but looks ok if you don't have anything to compair it to. The more you polish the better the finished chrome will look. I found that the secret to silver soldering was the correct flux.
