Back in the 60's the garage I worked at had a 52 Dodge pick-up with a 49 Plymouth engine in it. In the morning I would start it up and make sure the rods were knocking and none of the gauges were working, this meant it was good to go. The truck ran for years like this, they finally blew up the engine after I went into the service.
