those mobile home axles are usually 16.5 rims and
they don't have a safety bead built into the rims.
Also the tires on those axles are meant to be
hauled on highways only and usually a minimum
number of miles.(only to deliver the unit they were
designed to haul to its final site)
They other thing is that they make the ride height
of the trailer quite high. I think that you would
be safer and wiser to use a dropped axle with
wheels and tires meant for the job. Also the brakes
would be a question(electric), check with you
local motor vehicle department on electric brakes.
I would prefer a surge brake setup, myself.
We have built a number of trailers in the past and
quit using mobile home axles after the first one.
