I'm 90% sure both ends are the same. I'm pretty sure I've screwed an old mopar cable into a mil-standard speedometer. The only possible difference is the lenghth. When I got the one for my M37, I didn't have an old one to compare and I just had NAPA order the longest of the 3 ones they had listed that had the right size ends. It turned out to be much too long, but I was able to route it in a way that used it all up without any sharp bends. The only difference I would say is it was definitely built flimsier, both in the end fittings and the cable cover, than the old stock military ones I've seen. It was, however, was amazingly cheap.
