If your going to weight your truck to get it titled you should try and get it as lean as possible. Take out everything you can including the troop seats, spare tire, tailgate, etc. There is usually a threshold at which you will pay a higher weight fee in your yearly registration. I think in CA it is either 5000 or 5400 lbs. Considering a spare tire weights over 100 lbs it is easy to reduce the weight and save some money each renewal. If you don't get it below the required weight take it home and strip some more and have it scaled again.
