Hi Manny,
The problem is that its a fair amount longer than the 420 or the 435. This shortens the already short intermediate shaft and also increases the angle a pretty radical amount.
Other than the screams of protest emanating from the transmission / driveshaft I liked the gearing on the 540. 1st gear was really low, felt like low range. Even though it was not an overdrive, the intermediate gears were well spaced. Perhaps others have done other things to make it work but I cant figure out what it might be.
