Canadian M-37's came with 251 ci engines, which is the same dimensions as a 265. I have never converted, but it seems that it should just be a rad push, and extend the ears on your front motor mount... Thats how I do it with 1/2 ton WC's.
Wit a little effort, the warner gear 5 speed I have will fit on the back of a 265 motor. This way you could keep the 5.83 gears, but still have the overdrive for highway speeds.
