Paul is right, they can deny coverage, and you can also be guilty of insurance fraud for exceeding the intended use and then trying to submit a claim on your policy. Your carrier has the right to put you under oath in front of a court reporter, after the accident, to find out where you were going, why you had that lumber/dirt/rocks/dirt bike,etc in the bed of the truck, and just about anything else they want to ask you about the truck (or for some guys from Texas, about the inflatable doll in the cab). Then, if you have violated the terms of your policy, and they deny coverage, you could also have a huge $$$ problem of being personally liable for the losses you caused in the accident, not to mention whatever state law you violated for driving without liability insurance.
