Alternative? Why always #6?

I suppose it could be a bad head gasket, but that is usually between two siamesed cylinders. Or a vacuum leak through the wiper port, but again, siamesed port with #5. Wouldn't a milled head affect all cylinders?

I suspect that E) all of the above, in small quantities, could make #6 the worst cylinder. Every set of several items has a best, and a worst, of six...

But again, is Robert's temp gauge any good?
