Dodges were assembled with brass tees on the brake lines, and with either brass or mild steel plated brake pipe end fittings.

Stainless steel is harder than either of those original options, and it's very easy to strip the threads on the original fittings when trying to get a seal. I use CuNiFer (Copper/Nickel/Iron) brakes lines on my vehicles - just as rust-resistant as the stainless but with a hardness much closer to the original mild steel and much less likely to strip the original fittings.
