Well I finally have a rest period after being assigned to fires since Fathers Day and only having 2 days off. I have sceduled vacation for two weeks and was pulled off the Day Fire in L.A. and Ventura counties. Then back to finish the fire season, probably in So. Cal.
My poor '48 has sat with no work done since before the Hollister Rally. And although I found a really good condition '52 3/4 ton M101 trailer, I need to get to work on the PW. Thnks so much to Steven Fowler for being patient while I galavanted the state chasing fires. I put the check in the mail today.
Now the request for help. I need to replace the third and rear crossmembers due to rust and un original holes drilled for lights, etc. Does anyone have these in faily good shape? Or where can I get them? I imagine VPW? But I thought I'd check with you guys first.
Second, I will need to get the rivet tool that supposedly exists. Both crossmembers are riveted, and although bolting them back in would be faster, I really want to rivet them. Where can I get this??
I'm sure I missed alot of good information in the last 4 months, so please be patient if I ask for some information that has already been given.
Now to go get dirty with rust and oil, rather than ash and dirt.
