Bad diaphragm in advance? or timing?

If you didn't time it, you didn't tune it, so it may be a bad diaphragm in the vacuum advance. Have you tried adjusting the carb mix screw? That ought to smooth out a lean idle caused by the bad diaphragm.

I don't know where to get a new advance diaphragm, maybe Napa?
