They will still be stuck with the same old problem - inferior cars compared to imports. This is why they cannot successfully compete in the market place. It’s called post WW2 denial. We destroyed most of the world’s production capabilities during the war, and had it extremely well until about the mid 70’s. Denning and other quality gurus were teaching the Japanese how to compete and win in the market place during that same time by producing a better quality product. So what did the Japanese do, they listened! They began producing trucks that were achieving 120,000 miles without major repairs, while ours could barely reach 50,000. I have not seen the American products match Honda and Toyota vehicles. My 1985 Corolla GTS has 290,000 and the only major thing I’ve done is replace transmission bearings!!!

Oh, and Daimler/Chrysler. Mercedes has one of the higher repair rates. That was a good marriage also.
