I agree with you. My 1990 Suburban has 230K miles with no problems. Less than 2K in repairs beyond oil, brakes and normal maint. Never has left me on the road dead. It died once in my driveway when a electronic control module died.
In general GM and Ford still need to over come a poor image. Both seem to build decent trucks and SUVs. Their car line ups have not been that good. Honda and Toyota still set the standard. The US manufactures don't seem to be able to get there.
