A 4 year old Stihl should run great. We have one here that we use daily in the winter that my father bought 24 years ago. It runs great and has had a minor rebuild only once some years ago. If its running crummy at times, check the gas, check the air filter, then dig into the carb. Mechanically it should be fine, probably a fuel delivery issue. With care, that saw will last you for a long, long time.
