That tool stems from a time when there was another tool that would grind the shoes into a perfect circle after you got them close with the tool on ebay. Essentially arcing the shoes while installed on backing plate. I have a shoe arcing machine where I measure the drum then arc each shoe to fit. If I had all those other tools I would use them. but having the machine I have works great. I hear alot of complaining about how poorly thesee brakes work, but most people do not have there shoes arced to fit. my truck have always stopped great. these brakes were never intended to be installed without being arced to fit drum in one way or another. They don't "break in" like later shoe designs.
