Ken,

You may try a company in Oregon called Transmission Exchange Co (www.txchange.com). The contact I dealt with is Spencer Hodes and can be reached at 1-800-776-1191 or at spencer@txchange.com.

Their NP420 rebuild kit sells for 49.62$ (bearings and gaskets but no output shaft oil seal but it is available locally).

Above is a picture of the NP420 kit I received from them. The bearings are manufactured in Japan by Nachi-Fujikoshi Corp. FYI, Timken sometimes substitutes Nachi bearings in their boxes. One thing you should be aware is the bearings I received for the NP420 were not shielded so if one does heavy off-roading you risk having some oil pouring out of the input shaft (the NP420 doesn't have an oil seal on the input shaft but instead relies on a series of spiral groove on the shaft to bring the oil back into the case). If you want sheilded bearing, you should specify them.

Iknow Tim bought an NP540 kit fron them so he may chime in with his experience with the company.

Click the link if you want to see the rebuild of my NP420.

Regards,

Mike
