My opinion is;...eat the 4 hours and stay in the US, you'll avoid the hassle, headaches and potential fees for the "opportunity" of the experience.
Like Paul suggested, you could check it out ahead of time, but if paperwork is required, you'll both be in the "wrong" truck with the wrong paperwork on the way back.
