I use a Jordan Full proportional contoller. The controller mounts under the dash and a SS Aircraft cable hooks to the brake pedal. The harder you push on the brake the more braking power is applied to the trailer. You never feel a surge or trailer brake lockup. This is true proportional, not a electronic interia device like all other contollers use.

The other proportional contoller is Brake Smart. The Brake Smart requires installing the sensor in a brake line.

I dont know about the 98 dodge, but later Rams have a BLUE brake controller plug, coiled and tie wrapped up behind the parking brake pedal. Its hard to see but its there, may also be there on a 98 ??
