The A frame brackets are in a very poor location, on top of the bumperettes and way forward on the winch frame extentions, where the weight of any lifted load will simply bend and perhaps crack the frame extensions. The frame extension are strong if the winch is just pulling the truck forward, but they are not designed to carry the weight of a vertical load. Power Wagons with A frames added by intelligent aftermarket or telephone equipment companies have fishplates or long (3' or so long) frame toppers added to handle vertical loads.

A much better location for A frame pockets is to the sides of the truck frame rails near the rear of the winch, with a lower cross ways support bolted to the underside of the frame rails to keep the pockets from bending outwards under load.

In my opinion, the A frame pockets on this truck do not appear to be a well thought out modification.
