...the myth about Japanese quality is just that, a myth. The truth is that people buy cheap foriegn products they don't expect much, but when they buy high dollar USA build products they hold them to a higher standard. The reality is that Jap vehicles made in the USA are rated higher than Jap vehicles made in Japan. American productivity is higher than either European or Asian productivity when based upon hours per dollar amount, not hours per vehicle. The old adage that figures lie and liars figure is still true and data can be twisted to prove any point.
One of the last American made school buses, Crown, was a local SoCal company, high productivity and good quality, but doing business in the peoples republic of CA just finally wore them down.
Here's how you can tell that American productiviyt and quality is better, The old Ferd Ranger used to really be a Mazda, now the Mazda is a US built re-badged Ranger. Same for Chevy luv, it was an Isuzu, now the Isuzu is an S-10 USA built. The Ram 50/Dakota was really a Mitsubishi, now the Mitsubishi's are USA built Dodges.
The New VW mini vans will be re-badged Dodges, the list goes on and on.
If we used American dollars to buy American products we'd be a lot better off, as soon as our buying power drops, because we don't have enough American jobs left, the "global economy" shell game will collapse.
