You're right, I was speed reading??? Incorrectly assumed that the total load was 18,000, not just the cargo. For the load to be towed safely the trailer would have to be 0 lbs or less to stay under the Combined weight, CGVW is 23,600. Deduct the truck weight, from that, the load weight from that and the trailer weight from that.
However WHICH 3500 is unstated and unclear in the original post? Does he have the truck? Is it a pick-up or a Cab/Chassis? There is a huge difference in capacity between the 3500 pick-up and the 3500 cab/chassis.
The 2007 is NOT built upon a Dodge frame, it's a Freightliner frame, 6.7 Cummins, Aisin transmission, with a Dodge body.
Dodge rates the tow load alone as 16,500.
