Both axle's look to be 3/4 ton WC axles (the back axle is a center differential).I don't think they are narrowed and they are complete assembly's and thay are not 1/2 ton. I don'tknow what the gearing is I assume 5.89 or what ever was stock. The spring packs are the same number of leaves as the ones on our truck and very heavy duty as well as over-loads. The over-loads have 5 leaves on them and the springs are the same thickness as the main spring packs. The truck is set up to haul a gooseneck trailer as well as reciver Class V hitch and tow package. The truck only has single speed tranfer case though. I would plan on trading that out for a spare 2 speed I have at our shop. It also has lock out hubs up front. The fellow that owns the truck says it will cruise real nice aound 55-60 mph loaded with 8000Lbs of hay on a 18' gooseneck trailer.
What impresses me about this truck is the installation of the v-8, automatic transmission, as well as wiring, heater, and modern instruments looks to be professionally done.
I don't think the cab is original as it kind of looks funny. I have a feeling it was a open cab truck retro fitted with a closed cab. This truck is rust free and just looks cool.
I've got my original Power Wagon which I will keep original and I drive everywhere, but I have been looking for a 40's or 50's 4x4 Dodge truck that has a v-8 that I can dive down the high way without holding up traffic. I would like to use this rig to tow my power wagon to events such as the NW Power Wagon Trail Ride @ Jonas's and just for fun. I just love the look of this truck.
Anything else I should look for?
