This is interesting. I watched a video a while back where a man got his hand caught in the cable and received severe damage. It's always best to exert caution in using a winch, changing a tire, blocking a vehicle to get under and work on it (remember the cement block tirade?). Sure, the chances of an accident might be 1 in 100,000, but the chance still exists. A little precaution might not be necessary, but if it is it sure is better to have taken the precaution. Everyone could just not get their feathers ruffled when someone offers a suggestion that involves safety. If you don't want to heed the suggestions, don't.
