We each like to be right. I just don't like people to exagerate non-existant safety problems. That kind of authoritarianism sticks in my craw.

Please qoute me some expert that says there is a bead retention to NDMS tires- tire catalogue maybe? Nothing on your site quotes anybody. Nor do you even name names of all those folks with problems. Nor does anybody else here back you with their own stories of probs. Or the neccessity for special tools or methods needed to work on "bead retention 9.00's". Or is this your opinion vs mine? Should your website state "your opinion" as "fact"?

My tire sidewalls are about 200 square inchs each. At 40 psi, thats 8,000 pounds of pressure. Where do you think the hazards of slit rims come from?

Now, tires skid at about .7g. That means that the side force on a truck tire is limited to about .7 of the weight it is carrying. Lets carreen around a corner on two wheels- the tire has about 4,000#, or 2,800# of side force against the rim. That will barely overcome the pre-load of the air pressure that is holding the tire to the rim. If there is a tire/rim interface problem, it won't be abated by your "bead retention" in the least. How many of those folks that had problems were on two wheels at the time? Should we blame the bead, or the situation?

Likewise, that 2,000# pressure will hold the tire from sliding around the rim with the same .7 coefficient of friction. So, unless you make 2800# of torque,(two sidewalls) the tire won't rip the valve stem out either. Until it's about out of air.

How many miles a year do you drive? Don't you know that 43,000 people got kiled on our hiways each year? But you still take your life in your hands by driving everyday. I'll bet you even know somebody that died on the hiway. How risky is a mismatched tire/rim in comparative risk? Should you scare all my friends here with made up "bead retainers" and the lack therof?? Why, I feel unsafe in my daily driver- it has no bead retainer! Neither does my father's car! What a poor excuse for a son I am to allow him to risk his life driving a car that could have the tires blow off at any second now? Or should I worry more that he is still driving at 87?
