This is just an observation, and not finger pointing by any means. I can't understand why folks can't accept the purpose built WC and FFPW the way they are.If you must go fast, you picked the wrong truck.Putting on 11.00 16 tires and you lose torque, add 4.89 gears to that and you need lower gears to climb a grade. Then it's "oh crap"I can't stop with these stock brakes, the oversized tires act like giant flywheels, but they really look cool! Well it's time for Disc brakes! While we're at it, let's install a power brake booster. Sometime down the road it's realize, well with these big cool looking tires,my long stroke flathead 6 is now a real dog ! It's time for a V8 ! Lets give that ol' transfercase a real run for it's money!
This is by no means confined to Dodge owners.Let's devalue this WW2 jeep and stuff a V6 buick in it, and with these cool looking big oversized tires, it will surely stop when I mash on the peddle.
I've come to accept these rolling pieces of history as they were designed and intended to be used.
In summary, I guess I don't have the heart to cut into a stock vintage FFPW or WC. A 12 volt system and spin on filters are nice and very quickly reversable.

Just my 2 cents.
