Find an '87 to midway through '89 year 700R4. Why would I know this??? ('cause normally, I don't know a damn thing!!)...

Buy the 700R4 kit from John's Cars in Dallas, Texas. He sells kits to convert Jaguars to Chevy running gear. One of the things he sells is a kit to keep the 700R4 solenoid constantly charged because you won't have it hooked to a computer. I think the kit is about $150.00 and when you get it, you'll gag on what you paid $150.00 for!! You get a gasket, a plug, a spring and a ball bearing. (?) BUT... you get his instructions and know-how. From '87 to '89 was GM's best year for the not-too computerized overdrive tranny (Hey, this is from his shop, not from me) and if you install this kit (very simple, if I could do it... even Judd could) (No kidding, even Judd) it keeps the tranny from shifting out of first gear too late, and into overdrive too late, thus negating why you got an overdrive in the first place. It will (and I'm trying to remember his instruction page) - "fool the solenoid into thinking it's constantly charged, letting the tranny shift by RPM rather than waiting for a computer to tell it when to shift".

From the cobwebs of my mind...
