Hi Todd,
Pieter is correct, the silver box is an air compressor. The pump is a saginaw power steering pump, which mounts in its resevoir. It is known as a wet pump. It is mounted to the front of the engine, drivers side. It the donor truck had had power steering, this would have been the pump and resevoir Dodge would have used. AGR performance sells a beefed up pump for this sort of application. It looks the same as a regular pump but the changes are internal.
The truck is a 57 flat fender, with a 318 poly.
I shouldnt say you cant mix hydraulic functions, it is just that you dont get the best performance out of everything at once. Obviously I steer while plowing!
I dont know about the diverters, I am sure there are lots of ways I could /should have rigged it to improve it, I did it to the best of my ability, using advice garnared from several sources. There is always room for improvement!
Tim
