IMHO, airsoft guns and paintball guns are the worst thing that ever happened to shooting sports. They violate the basic rule of "don't point guns at people." If the kid's old enough to have airsoft or paintball, he or she is old enough to have a bb gun or a single-shot .22 and learn how to really shoot things. "Shooting" their friends with airsoft is a real bad habit, not to mention that running around with them in the wrong situation just might get them shot with a real gun. Sure we all had cap guns and pop guns and bb guns when we were kids, and I guess I wouldn't be so hard-nosed as to keep kids from playing with toy guns that don't really shoot anything. But bb guns will definitely hurt you, and that's a good thing because it teaches the kid to be safe with them.

All that said, I agree the Dallas proposal is ridiculous. They already make them put orange tips on all the fake guns. I'm surprised to see something like this come out of Texas, but I guess I just had some cowboy movie fantasy about Texans.
