The reason for using straps is to protect the axles and painted or coated parts. We lift a lot of material on our jobsites. We use small "choker" straps to connect loads to cranes, forklifts, etc., that have braided loops on the ends, some as short as 2' and rated at 30,000 lbs. A guy like Paul, could reverse your scenario by using the chokers on the axles, then chaining the chokers with his dot dot dot-dash dash dash-dot dot dot, chain binders. That would be quick, easy, protect the paint and be safe.
