In AZ it has to be in the open and with out any gate or door or keyed lock in the way between your stuff and the street. So if it is in the back yard and the gate is open you may take back what is yours but if the gate is closed then it is trespassing. Or if the item is in the house then you must have permission to enter the home from the occupant before you go in and attemt to recover. Once again Arthur check the local laws before you make your move.
