I'm not certain, but I suspect the WC62/63 had the same bed "upgrade" its smaller brother the WC51/52 had. They shortened the driver's side of the bed on the later models to allow a little space between the bed and spare tire for the driver to step through. Early WC51's have longer bedsides on the driver's side, and the driver has to get in and out on the passenger side or try and jump over the spare.
My WC-51 has the early style bed, but it's a '45 and should have the short driver's side... the beds got swapped during a rebuild or something.
