Literature that I have seen only shows the Military style on early WDX's. The parts books D-12004 ( Feb 48 ) and D-13864 ( July 51) show the later style p/n 927191. The part number changes again in the Apr 56 book to 1189748 and stays that way till at least 1961. My 61-63 book shows a change to 2229649 and that was it till 68. After talking to several family members who were in the automotive business in the 40's and 50's, it was common practice to see left over parts from previous model years to be used on early year vehiciles. I think Eric or Clint will able to fill in more on the model or serial number breakdowns. Just my 2 cents.
