I used 14 ga for the rear lights. Not knowing how many lights a trailer may have, I ran wire to handle most normal needs. However, I wired my carryall ( no pre made harness). I used wire sizes in all cases that would give me a large safety margin. Since the Carryall will never pull a large trailer with onboard battery, I did not run a larger charge wire.
