I run her at 60 and feel very comfortable and engine sounds good. I have never been sorry with the 318. The Bumblebee will get a Cummins in the future.
The cap you refer to is a shore power plug that goes directly to the battery. My PW was Danish Military. I left the plug for easy Jumping etc. When I do the Diesel Conversion, I probably will remove that plug as I have never used it.
