If you count the ones that were cut down into pickups, but you still can tell they were Carryalls, I know of two WC-53s in a 2 hour radius of my house.

I see the cut down ones all the time, and lots of uncut ones on E-bay, VPW, etc, etc.

Remember 8,600 WC-53s were made, and I doubt that many made it into battle.

There are tons pictured on the web all over the world, so it is hard to judge.

My guess is 3,000 + WC-53s are still around in one form or another, that includes anything with a frame and enough of a cab to let you know it was a Carryall at one point.

The only ones that are rare are the ones with all the original bits, and in good condition, seats, rear gates, and other rear body parts are the hard items to find.

If you are asking about 1/2 ton Carryalls I know of just one guy who has 7 or so of them, and they are also on E-bay all the time.

If you want to know how many are left, watch E-bay, VPW, etc and count how many come up for sale in a year, then try and apply that number to the number made in a way that gives you a guess at the number left.

Good luck.

Eric
