So after hours of relentless research and much befuddelment, I have come to the conclusion that ASTM doesn't have a clue either....= )
We are however talking apples to oranges as FASTENER Grading is completely different from steel grading, while tensile strength, hardness and carbon content are assigned by grade, there is little (some) correlation between fastener grades and carbon steel grades. Therefore no apparent similarities between reinforcing steel, chain, rod and or bolt grades. So..hopefully Dave went to th ehardware store and found the correct shear pin replacement, sans dangerous bolt adaptation, you picked up that chick..and I'm on my way to the shop now that the temp has reached 112 degrees, which severly effects my yield strength, elongation and flexural modulus.
